7 Goal Setting Tips For Weight Loss

Weight-loss goals. The difference between failure or success. If you have a well-planned, realistic goal, it will keep you motivated and will help you convert your thoughts into action.


Proper goal setting makes you the master of your own future. Tomorrow is directly affected by the actions you take today. And guess what? You did what you did today because of the goals you have set. 


If you set specified goals, you will determine where you should focus your efforts. It will also weed out the distractions that can hinder your progress. 


Unrealistic weight-loss goals are a bad idea as they will undermine your efforts. 


There are two types of goals for weight loss. 


The first goal focus on the desired outcome you want to achieve. This goal gives you a target but does not address how you will achieve it. 


The second goal is a process goal which focus on the steps to take to achieve the desired outcome. 
For example, a process goal may be to walk 30 minutes each day and to drink water with every meal. -process goals are very helpful for weight loss as you focus on changing habits necessary for weight loss. 


Set SMART goals
Both your process and target goals should be according to these criteria:
•    Specific
•    Measurable
•    Attainable
•    Relevant

Long-term and short-term goals
To make your overall goal more manageable you should set long-term goals which is then divided into many smaller weekly and daily goals - like bite-sized pieces.

Keep track
Keep track of your weight loss goals. There are many tracking tools available online or you may visit the app store for a goal tracking app.

Set realistic goals within a reasonable time frame
We have good intentions but within three days we bury them in a bowl of ice cream. Setting realistic goals means to take real stock of what you can do within a said time.

Adjust your goals as needed
As you make progress in your weight loss plan, you will sometimes have to change your goals. That is ok an allow for that.

Allow for setbacks
Every successful person has experienced setbacks. That is a normal part of life and a normal part of behavioural change.

Stay open minded
To be open-minded means to be flexible, an important key to successful change. Remember that we cannot learn new habits overnight and that it will take time.

Start with your Gratitude Journal

Take a few minutes every morning or evening to write down 3-5 things that you are grateful for. These can range from being thankful for waking up and being healthy, having a warm cup of coffee, or getting to work on time. Spend a few seconds to feel how much blessed you are and allow that emotion to propel you toward greatness for the rest of your day (if writing in the morning) or towards a good nights sleep.

Pause for a moment
Smell the flowers for a moment. That will change your day. Do this before you get overwhelmed with negative feelings. Take a stroll outside and feel thankful for those things around you. This simple activity can give you the change to view a stressful situation in a new way. ​

There is something positive everywhere
Before you allow yourself to become upset about what seems to be a difficult situation, take a minute to change the bad thought to one that is more favourable. If you're stuck in the early morning traffic, make use of this time to pray or meditate before getting to work. Take a look at these positive lunchbox notes that may brighten up someone’s day!
 
Try for an entire day not to complain
Set a new routine by abstaining from complaining for one day. Try to find only one good thing among the many of unfavourable things that might affect you through the day. Be transformed by this new attitude.

If you could choose only one or two new (beneficial) habits to create in the next couple of weeks —  what would they be? If we want to progress to our goals, we need to develop good habits. 
Realizing that every person is different, this is not an easy question to answer. But for all of us, the following is true - we all are held back by bad habits, and we all are propelled forward by good habits. With that in mind, check out the suggestions below, and decide which one or two habits  would you start with? (There are many more! Let your mind flow)

Attempt to think positive. The most important thing you can do is to improve your thoughts. Do not allow negative thoughts to point your life's direction. Teach your brain to think positive ones instead, and you will succeed. Become more aware of your negative self-talk by writing them down throughout the day. Soon you will be more attentive, and able to change your thoughts without even noticing!

Much of our daily stress stems from finances. Keep a journal of your expenses. Track every cent spent and see where your money is going. Make the adjustments to work towards your financial goals.

Be attentive not to multi-task. You will be much more productive, have less stress, and you will get more done. Focus on one task or one goal at a time.

Live with gratitude. This simple but effective habit will shift your focus to all good around you and prevent you to be frustrated about what you don't have. This shift in perspective will allow you to replace dissatisfaction with happiness. Cultivating the habit of gratitude helps you to (re-) discover the beauty that can be found in your life. Being grateful will allow you to develop a deep appreciation even for the little things in life. More important, gratefulness will make you spend much less time in the  pursuit of more.

Define your priorities. Concentrate your time and energy on the things in your life that matters most to you. Get rid of everything else.  This will free space to concentrate on the important stuff to get things done. If you have too much on your plate, you will not get things done. Set specific goals and then break it up in smaller pieces where you can. Be specific and make sure that the goals are realistic and achievable

To exercise every day is one of the most important daily habits. You need not go to the gym, a brisk walk would be fine to! It will contribute to your overall health and happiness.

Read more. Reading more will increase your creativity and decision making skills, and that is not all - it will also improve your memory. Try reading 15 minutes every day, on topics you enjoy.

Plan your next day before you go to sleep at night. This way your time will be optimized and your day will be less stressed. Make a to-do list for the next day before you go to bed.

Curiosity can lead to many wonderful things and urges us to broaden our knowledge to penetrate to the core of things. Most of us will not become famous explorers or inventors, but f you make good use of this wonderful gift from God, you will lead a meaningful and joyous life.
 
Do you know the difference between an extraordinary life and an average life?
When you live a curious life, you do not live a life that is irresponsible, but you provoke originality in your everyday live. You will think more insightfully and live a life less ordinary. Your mind will be open to suggestions, different options, as well as new ways of viewing a situation.

Three steps towards a more curious life:
Try to be responsible curious rather than judgmental or criticizing when new situations arise.
Learn from, and admit your mistakes. Only then, good judgment will develop.
Stop making assumptions about situations. Assumptions obstruct your view and will defeat you before you even begin.

Curiosity can be dangerous if not lived by the word of God. Curiosity for sin will lead to compromising or even in going astray such as the Prodigal Son. The young man asks his father for his inheritance, and went off to see what is in the outside world....he was soon broke with no one to help him. Curiosity led him to make poor life decisions.
 
Just be careful, keep this in mind while be responsible curious.
