Start Out Relaxed Anytime you’re jittery or anxious, you’re not going to get things done effectively. It’s better to start already relaxed. This is why, for optimal visualization, you start with some deep breathing to calm yourself. This sets you up for success right at the start. Still having trouble? A short round of meditation might work better. Stay Fixed in Reality Visualization, which requires a lot of interpretation, is only going to take up more time than you have. So, lose the fantastic imagery and stick with what you know. For example, if you’re concentrating on your work life, picture your office and coworkers as they are. Turning them into woodland creatures in a vast jungle is only going to complicate matters unnecessarily. Focus on What You’re Doing Most visualization puts all the concentration on the end goal. While this looks wonderful, it can require more time to work in the long run. Instead, spend less time on the conclusion and more on the journey itself. How are you trying to get there? What are you doing now? What steps need to follow? By using visualization as a roadmap, you’re going to find you save time in the visualization itself, and in the application of the visualization later. Use All Your Senses Here’s where you want to put in the bulk of your visualization time. Layer in every one of your senses when creating your imagery. You want to feel, touch, taste, and hear the experience as well as see it. Why? Again, this is where the power of the visualization comes from. We spend so much of our time at work. On average, you’ll spend one quarter to one-third of your life dealing with work. It’s no wonder making your work-life somehow ‘better’ is such an important goal among so many people.
Thankfully there’s a quick way to do this through visualization.
Visualization helps you to find a better work-life through the use of the mind to create the future you want to have. By training your mind properly, you will lose the roadblocks standing between you and your success. Try these exercises and see for yourself: Go Basic Start with the simple things though they might not seem so simple at first glance. You begin with creating your goals. Where do you want to go in your career? Ideally, where would that be? What does it look like? What kind of things do you want to be doing throughout the day? Do you want to work alone or with other people? Once you have a really clear vision of the future, you’re going to spend some time digging in to visualize this, making all these ideas into one concrete goal. Spend the time needed to understand and fully experience this goal in your mind. You begin with creating your goals. Where do you want to go in your career?
Expect the Worst
If a lot of your work anxiety is geared toward not being ready to handle a disaster, this might be a better visualization for you. Take time to visualize where you are now and what you’re doing next at work. Explore the absolute worst-case scenario. Now imagine yourself handling these problems and solving them. As with any visualization, use a lot of detail. Be sure to spend time to work out clear solutions and ending again…with success. Hone in on a Skill Feeling like your work life is stagnating because you don’t have what you need to succeed? Visualize your success with a special focus on your skills. What are you lacking (e.g., certain people skills)? Now picture yourself addressing this need. What steps do you need to take to gain the necessary skills? Visualize yourself taking those steps. Now imagine the successful you, using those skills. With any of these visualizations, you’re asking yourself the same things. What does it look like? What does it feel like?

Rewrite the Emotions
We all have emotional triggers where bad habits are concerned. In this method, identify what you feel before you dive into the habitual activity.
For example, you might feel sad or jealous whenever you see your friends are doing something cool while you’re staying at home, so you reach for a beer to help bury the emotion. Instead, visualize your initial emotional response and calm it through meditation or deep breathing.
Once you’ve dissipated the negative emotion, call up a positive one alternatively. What would you instead feel? Maybe you can feel content or even a little bit smug because you’re not going out and spending money. After all, you’re saving for a fantastic trip of your own. Start Over Forget the bad habit entirely in this one. Instead, you’re going to picture the habit you want. Are you anxious to visit the gym? Picture yourself going in careful detail. Layer in positive, happy emotions about going. Make this a visualization you can desire and even crave. Create this scene often. You’ll find yourself wanting to change your action, to experience in real life what you’ve been imagining. Tada! A new habit begins! We all have things that leave us on edge. Sometimes it’s an event or a person. Shut it Out
Our thoughts can be noisy things. We hear so many voices in our heads, reminding of us deadlines, things to do, and people to see. Add to this the negative self-talk which creeps in occasionally and the half-heard phrases we’ve carried with us, which sound suspiciously like our parents, and you’ve got a lot of chatter and no peace. For this kind of problem, visualize yourself in a room with a big open window. Set all these voices outside the window. Now, take a deep breath and shut the window firmly. This is a nice thick double-paned glass. You can no longer hear the voices when the window is closed. Go Somewhere Else Feeling especially fearful? It’s time for a trip to feel someplace safe. For some, this might be the beach. Or perhaps you’d feel more at home by a mountain lake or city café sipping coffee. Wherever you feel the safest and most at home, you want to go there now in your mind. Start by sitting back and making yourself comfortable. Close your eyes and picture yourself in your favorite place. Add in every detail you can to make this experience as real as possible. Include all your senses in the background. Breathing deeply, holding yourself in this place until you feel calm and somewhat refreshed.
With visualizations like these, you tell your mind to calm. You take back control where you need it most and set your feet back on a better path. Remember, you’re in charge of what goes on in your head. Don’t let anxiety set the tone for you.
Unwind with some String
Feeling all tense and coiled up inside? This usually comes when you’re holding back too many emotions. Picture yourself carrying around all these knotted emotions tangled up with words you’ve wanted to say all day but couldn’t. Make all these feelings into an imaginary ball of yarn. Now sit back and take several calming breathes as you withdraw this ball of yarn and hold it in your hand. Do you feel the weight? Good. Now drop it on the floor, holding onto the end of the string so that the ball rolls away from you, unraveling as it goes. Watch all the strands of yarn unwind, disappearing as they do. Stay in the vision until the entire ball is unwound and gone, and you’re feeling lighter and more relaxed.

If so, don’t feel bad. Relationships take a lot of work, and it’s natural to go through periods where you need to tweak things to keep them running smoothly. After all, two people coming together is complicated. Visualization makes it more accessible. The good news is, it isn’t hard to make a relationship better, especially through using visualizations. Does that seem strange? Really, it’s not. Read on to discover four visualization techniques involving visualization, which will lead you into a better relationship. The Basic In this simple visualization, you do what you would in most visualizations. Start with your relationship goal. Create a positive statement for this goal, then picture this goal as being successfully done. Lastly, release the goal and live ready to change where you need to. The Bubble Start as you did with the last visualization only this time you’re going to relax into a more meditative stance and set your relationship goal inside a protective bubble after imagining the goal as completed. Now let it go, knowing your goal is protected and cherished and will come to you completed. Affirmations What is your relationship goal? This time write it out in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd person so you can view it from every angle. Write it by hand at least 20 times. If negative thoughts come up, record them separately. When you’re finished, look at the negative thoughts. Write affirmations to negate those as well. Write the Script Again, start with your relationship goal. This time you’re going to visualize this goal as completed in as much detail as you possibly can. Layer in all the emotions, actions, and changes that go with realizing this goal. Write it out as a script so you can revisit this goal precisely as it is, over and over again. Keep in mind, you might need to change the script now and again, but all good scriptwriters make revisions from time to time. Add affirmations and visualize this often. Remember, visualizing your successful relationship should lead to happy and pleasant emotions. Use this energy to put in the work to create the future you’ve envisioned. And remember, this is a joint project. Engage the other person in what you’re trying to do, and you’ll naturally increase your chances of success.
