We look at ourselves the mirror, and see many ways in which we don’t compare against this belief that we have in our head how we are "suppose" to look. We start to believe that no one can love us because of the way we look, and then become desperate to lose weight, for the wrong reasons. Then we seek out these diets that promise great weight loss in the shortest period, which is not feasible. This is a sick cycle that will go repeating itself over and over - until we make the decision, this is it - Stop.
