There are a few things we can do every day, including to eat healthy and exercise - that will help us to fuel our grey matter's thinking power.

  • Read More – The more you read, the more you will absorb and therefore the more intelligent you will get. After looking at different studies of childhood development, researchers recently concluded that reading to a child in an interactive style raises his or her IQ by over 6 points. The findings were revealed in Perspectives on Psychological Science this month, in an article entitled “How to Make a Young Child Smarter: Evidence From the Database of Raising Intelligence.

  • Minimize "Bad" Television – Scientists have linked TV viewing to antisocial behavior and lowered verbal IQ. While it can be relaxing you don`t stimulate your thinking. Try tuning into a documentary or the news every now and then.

  • Exercise –  It is one of the best ways to boost your intelligence. a Possible reason me be that the exercise boosts the blood (and therefore oxygen) supply to the brain – which helps give it the energy to think.

  • Have a Good Breakfast – Eating a healthy breakfast is directly linked to higher mental performance.  A new study finds that children who eat breakfast every day scored significantly higher on a range of IQ tests.

  • Eat Yogurt and other “bacteria” – Certain bacteria have been scientifically linked to brain power. So it’s possible that by simply eating yogurt you can promote the growth of neurons. Researchers now have the first evidence that bacteria ingested in food can affect brain function in humans. In an early proof-of-concept study they found that women who regularly consumed beneficial bacteria showed altered brain function, both while in a resting state and in response to an emotion-recognition task.

  • Get Enough Rest – No matter how efficient and wonderful it is, it eventually needs to recharge and shut down. A good nights sleep will do wonders in making you smarter.   "Sleep deprivation is associated with considerable social, financial, and health-related costs, in large measure because it produces impaired cognitive performance" article publishes by Namni Goel, Ph.D., Hengyi Rao, Ph.D., [...], and David F. Dinges, Ph.D.

  • Eat Brain Food and Stay Hydrated –The food you eat directly affects how your brain performs. Eat right to boost your IQ and improve your overall brain function. Foods that associated with brain health, includes dark green vegetables, berries, oily fish and nuts. Make sure you dring enough water. Our brains depend on proper hydration to function properly. Studies have shown that if you are only 1 percent dehydrated, you will likely have a 5 percent decrease in cognitive function.

  • Limit  Sugar intake - A 2012 study conducted by researchers at UCLA, found that a diet high in fructose hinders learning and memory by literally slowing down the brain.

  • Learn to Play an Instrument – Playing an instrument is a great way to up your intellect. New research suggests that regularly playing an instrument changes the shape and power of the brain and may be used in therapy to improve cognitive skills. It can even increase IQ by seven points in both children and adults, according to researchers.

Do Math Questions and puzzles - By doing math you exercise your brain and doing crossword puzzles, reading, writing and engaging in other mentally challenging activities appears to be good for the brain.
