How to Use Visualization for Success: 3 Traps That Will Ruin Visualization and How to Fix Them8/13/2020
The world keeps talking about how great visualization is and how well it works for them. Why then isn’t it working for you?
The problem with visualization is how easily we can derail ourselves before we’ve even properly begun. Focusing on the negative, not putting in enough practice, or just plain refusing to have faith in the method will absolutely destroy everything you’re setting out to do. Let’s take a look at three traps which very commonly ruin visualization, and some quick fixes to get you back on track again. 3 How to Use Visualisation for Success - 3 traps to avoid!
You’re Too Hard on Yourself
Your visualization didn’t leave room for bumps in the road, or your own personal failures. As a result, you feel like you ruined the whole thing when you slipped up and have thrown out the entire idea. The better solution? Acknowledge the mistake but focus instead on the parts you’re doing right. Then dig back into your visualization and start from wherever you are now. Also, you might want to layer in a little love by putting in a contingency plan for when things go wrong…so long as you put the emphasis - as always - on the outcome and eventual result you’re aiming for. Eyes on the prize, remember!
You’re Not Putting Yourself into the Script
All too often, we think we’re helping if we put someone like a celebrity into our visualization. After all, your weight loss goal starring the latest and greatest seems a lot more exciting, and even inspiring…right? Wrong! By not making it about yourself, you’re setting yourself up for a dismal failure. This visualization is about your life—starring you! Focus on what your goal is and why it’s essential to you personally. From there, work the steps to reach your eventual success. Now you’re back in business!
You Aimed for the Stars
We all get a little overexcited sometimes, and while great big goals are fantastic, you sometimes need to add in a dose of reality. Some goals aren’t possible. Or might be further off than you thought. Rather than becoming discouraged when faced with the impossible, take a step back. Identify what the next best goal is (maybe it’s a step on the way to the big lofty goal?) and ask yourself what the steps are to get there. Don’t forget to figure in the problems likely to come up, along with some solutions. Then get back to work. There’s nothing wrong with adjusting your visualization to reflect the current reality. Visualizations gone wrong don’t necessarily need to be scrapped wholesale. Remember, you can always keep what works. The key here is to pick yourself up and keep going rather than stopping altogether. How to use visualisation for success - 3 traps to avoid!

Being positive, and staying positive is a choice
Eventually, building your self esteem will lead to self improvement. If we become responsible for who we are, what we have and what we do, it will be like a flame spreading from the inside out.
When we develop our self esteem, we have to take control of our self discipline, our mission, and our values.
Self esteem brings about self improvement. How do you start to put up the blocks of self esteem?
Be positive. Be contented and happy. Be appreciative. Never miss an opportunity to compliment. A positive way of living will help you to self improvement by building a good self esteem first.
Sometimes, when we are wrapped up in our insecurities and fears, we may wish that “I was somebody else.”
But if you could read her mind, you would see clouds of thoughts and it might amaze you that she’s thinking “are people talking about why I am seated here alone?... Why don’t guys find me attractive? ...I don’t like my ankles.”
We look at a young business entrepreneur and say “Wow, what else can he ask for?” He stares at himself at the mirror and murmur to himself “I hate my big ears…why have I so few friends.”
Some people never tires of talking. And in most conversations, it is only them who seems to be interested in the things they have to say.
An important key to self improvement is to talk to a trusted friend. Find someone who you trust. Ask questions like “do you think I am ill-mannered?”, do I bore you when we are together, do my breath smell?” and so on..
Your friend’s answers may surprise you and he or she will know that you are interested in improving yourself. In return you may help your friend with positive criticism. This is a win-win situation.
We all have our insecurities. Nobody is perfect

Remember, you cannot give what you do not have. Be a product of self improvement first before you can tell other people how to improve themselves.
The first step to true self improvement is to accepting yourself. Stop thinking of yourselves as second-rate beings. Forget the repetitive thought of “If only I was richer... if only I was thinner” and so on.
Being yourself is observing you, finding out how to express yourself and be pleased with who you are.
For a few individuals, it's finding out how to love yourself, for other people, it's not shrouding who you are or altering things about you to fit in.
You can't be yourself if you don't understand, know, and live with yourself first. It ought to be your basic goal to discover this. Attempt to take time for yourself and chew over your life and selections.
Work at accepting errors and selections you've arrived at; they're complete and in the past, so there's no use howling over spilled milk. Quit caring about how individuals perceive you.
It truly doesn't matter. It's unimaginable to be yourself when you're caught up in questioning "Do they think I'm comical? Does she think I'm plump? Do they believe I'm unintelligent?"
To be yourself, you've got to release these concerns and just let your conduct flow, with only your thoughtfulness of other people as a filter — not their consideration of you.
Self-improvement and self love is the virtue of acceptance and contentment. Happiness will follow where self improvement has taken place.
